I'd like to tell you about how we make it fun to begin your orthodontic treatment at Dr. Nappen's office.
Once we've met you and Dr. Nappen has seen firsthand what we will needed to create your beautiful new smile, we'll schedule you to get some important records like x-rays, photographs and impressions of your teeth.
We may be able to get some of the x-rays from your general dentist, but we'll also need to get a more complete set to make sure your treatment plan takes into account all of the hidden things that can influence successful outcomes.
We'll take the xrays and photos of your face and teeth with our state-of-the-art digital technology that is linked to one of our computers. You can see the x-ray images appear as we are taking them.
The impressions we make of your teeth come in a menu of flavors - your choice! You also probably noticed when Dr. Nappen first examined you that his gloves were flavored! Did you guess what flavor he was wearing? As I said before we make this process as much fun as possible.
Dr. Nappen will carefully review these records and personally measure the dimensions of your teeth and jaw relationships as he develops a written plan that describes the details of your treatment.
Now you're ready to actually start!
For many people this will mean getting braces first thing. The days of braces that wrap around all your teeth are gone. Now the braces attach directly to the outside of your teeth. How you want them to look is totally up to you! You may want to get mini silver braces, or gold braces, or even clear - it's your choice! With either of these braces we use tiny rubber-like circles (called ligatures) to hold the wires to the braces. These come in a choice of colors! You get to chose from a palette of colors that goes from clear to neon green with everything in between. Each appointment you can change your colors and coordinate with your eye color, clothing, seasons of the year, holidays, favorite team colors, etc.
